During Your Infertility Storm, God Has Not Forgotten About You

Pain comes in different shapes and degrees. To some, pain comes in abuse, in loneliness, disappointments, and some, losing a loved one. Like pain, losses differ. Some grieve the loss of the people they have journeyed through life with, and some grieve the loss of those they have never even met. This is the pain of infertility.

Dreaming to hold a child would mean the world to some of us. However, when our desires are taken away, the pain is different. This is because of the anticipation that has already built-up, the inevitable frustration due to lack of fulfillment, and most especially the loss of a sense of purpose.

If you are caught up in this storm, understand that all pain has a purpose. You might feel helpless and hopeless, and the answers do not come as clearly and as quickly as you need them, but surely, they will come. God’s purposes for you will prevail amidst the hopelessness of any situation.

Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

In the middle of any storm, may you hold fast to these two truths – you are whom God says who you are, and God is strengthening you.It is very easy to succumb to your circumstances and brand yourself, but your situation does not make you less. You are not what you are going through. It may be a significant experience, but all the storms shall pass. You could either come out better or bitter, but one thing is certain, storms change us.

Changing for the better always begins with perspective,

and when you face this kind of storm, you need your perspective to be bigger than you. Hence, see yourself the way God sees you.

Be patient with yourself and heal. Understand that in the grand scheme of things, your situation is not a dead-end but merely a detour. Take God’s word as the ultimatum over your storm, so do not give up hope and come out stronger.

It may not feel like it, but He is strengthening you. It is more likely for you to think that God has abandoned you, but He did not, and He would not.

Amid your pain, God is there and has not forgotten about you. He will use the pain to reveal what He has in store for you, and it is better than what you have ever desired or imagined. Therefore, take heart because neither lack of faith, nor failure, nor ancestral sin causes your infertility – it is because of a greater purpose for your life. For the meantime, He will teach you accordingly so that your character will be molded into the likeness of His Son, Jesus Christ. May you glorify Him even in pain so that others might find hope too. For as long as you have breath, God is far from done with you. Have hope and be guided by His word by surrendering to His timing. Trust His will because He loves you.
